ON THE SEASIDE IN THE LANDES

This saltwater lake is one of the jewels of the Côte d’Argent. Spread over more than 600 hectares, it lives to the rhythm of the tides and shelters a generous and varied life which attracts numerous species of birds such as the grey heron, the gull, the seagull or the woodcock. Take the 6km walk around the lake to admire the sumptuous villas on the shore which only add to the magic of the place.

In the summer months, the marine lake comes alive and its beaches (supervised in summer) fill with families who enjoy swimming safely in the clear, calm water. You can enjoy water sports activities such as stand-up paddle, sailing and fishing. This magical nature reserve will impress you with its authenticity.

You will appreciate the fine sandy beaches as far as the eye can see, facing the perfect waves of the Atlantic. The Plage Centrale is the main beach of Hossegor, supervised from June until the end of August. It offers a wide expanse of fine sand and many restaurants and bars overlooking the ocean, where you can enjoy a postcard setting where the horizon blends with the blue sea.

Hossegor is also a seaside resort known for its powerful waves which attract surfers from all over the world and which today owe it the title of European surfing capital. Indeed, some of the best surfing spots in the world are found here, and each year they host the World Surfing Championships, a real spectacle that attracts thousands of people.

If you are interested in water sports and are on holiday in the Landes, this is the perfect opportunity to try surfing or bodysurfing! Many schools offer private or group lessons and even courses to discover this discipline or to improve your skills.

En été, le marché traditionnel rassemble près de 100 étals de produits locaux, de fruits et légumes frais aux vêtements et accessoires.

Pour une ambiance encore plus authentique, le samedi matin accueille le marché de producteurs locaux sur la place du Trinquet à Soorts Hossegor, idéal pour un panier 100 % landais. Enfin, en soirée, le marché nocturne du Parc Rosny en juillet et août est une promenade festive au bord du lac, parfaite pour découvrir l’artisanat local sous les étoiles.

Although first appreciated for its idyllic setting, its vast beaches and its sun, Hossegor is also a destination that comes alive particularly in July and August to offer a festive atmosphere that appeals to many young people.

If you want to take advantage of your evenings to go out and party, you are sure to find a place that suits you, whether you are young or old. While the Place des Landais (esplanade overlooking the Central Beach) is a relatively popular party area for young people, the town centre of Hossegor is a place where all generations can meet and enjoy a relaxed and jovial atmosphere. You can also enjoy the free open-air concerts, regularly organised during the school holidays.
