Beach resorts and coast in Aquitaine!
From the Gironde Estuary to the Côte Basque, the Atlantic Coast spreads a great variety of sea landscapes, with more than 720 kilometres of coastline! Water sports can be found all over, just like the countless cycle tracks and lovely beach resorts! The Dune du Pilat is one of the must-sees of your stay in Aquitaine, a tourist site worth a visit on your way to the campsite! Europe’s highest dune offers a breathtaking and panoramic view on the Atlantic Ocean and Landes forest. We also suggest a trip to the region’s lakes, perfect for anglers or water sports fanatics. The sea lakes of Port d'Albret and Hossegor near Camping Lou Pignada are an absolute must! Lovers of cycling and sea will be delighted to find the Vélodyssée track! This is the longest cycle track of France, running along the Atlantic Coast up to the Côte Basque. A perfect way to explore the best parts of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine coast. Not far from the campsite, you can choose to stroll around in Vieux Boucau, Capbreton or Mimizan. Our final advice would be to head southward to the Basque beaches of Hendaye offering some unique nature: 8 kilometres of green cliffs between the Atlantic Ocean and the Pyrenees!
The Basque Country unveils the beauty of Aquitaine!
Your camping holiday in Aquitaine will most likely take you to the Basque Country, the part of Aquitaine along the south west coast of France. Along the coast, Biarritz is the cultural capital of the Basque Country, but also an Eldorado for surfers. Bayonne will be a delight for lovers of art and history, with visits to the ramparts and the Citadel, both masterworks of Vauban. The beach resort of Saint-Jean-de-Luz is just as attractive. Louis XIV got married in the town’s church, a real must-see. Perched on the cliffs of Hendaye, the fabulous neo Gothic style Abbadia castle is one of the main tourist sites in the area. The charm of a camping holiday in the south of Aquitaine also means visiting some of the most picturesque villages like Ciboure, Espelette or Arcangues, that holds Luis Mariano’s tomb. You’ll love watching pelote (Basque ball game) before heading to the south of the Adour.
